About Featherstone Cohousing

Who we are

Featherstone Cohousing is currently made up of 22 people in 10 households.

Most of us have lived in some sort of shared housing set-up, and want to do so again for lots of different reasons:

We have set up a non-profit company - Featherstone Cohousing - which is limited by guarantee. All of our members are directors.

The Plan

We are in negotiations to buy Featherstone Lodge - a large Victorian house set on a ridge with a big south-east sloping garden. It was a large family house for many years before becoming a home for nurses and then an addiction recovery centre until 2008.

We are working with architects Hayhurst and Co to convert the building into 10 flats. There is also space on the site for two new homes to be built.

The site has planning permission for a large development, but we are designing something smaller.
